new year resolutions – goals or limitations?

New Year resolutionsAh, January, the time of year for new beginnings, quitting bad habits and tax returns.

Whether you make resolutions or not, there’s no escaping the bombardment of the latest health fads, gym membership special offers, self help programmes, new hobbies and a collective desire to be the best versions of ourselves we can be.

And while I’m all for a bit of positive thinking in the dark grey looms of January, these ‘goals’ are starting to feel like the electric fences keeping us from a better life forever.

What happens when you reach that target weight, make it to the end of ‘dry January’, master that skill, or quit smoking? The likelihood is, our new found wellbeing will be very short-lived until the next time January comes around. It’s human nature. It’s summer with cocktails and barbeques. It’s Christmas with mulled wine and mince pies.

So, I’m asking you this – why not resolve to not wait until January, why not make permanent changes for the better, forever – Now! Break through that electric fence and keep going.

Go BEYOND in 2016.
